Mission Statement

CLUE’s Environmental Justice Workgroup advocates for policies and regulations to mitigate human activities that pose threats to our environment and the Earth’s climate. We partner with local environmental organizations and mobilize faith communities to protect those most at risk from the effects of environmental degradation. provided in the jail healthcare contract, and prioritize community-based alternatives to reduce the need for law enforcement intervention.

What We Do

Lower income communities in S. B. County are most impacted by environmental harms such as leaks and spills from oil drilling and fracking, water pollution, flooding, improper waste management, and climate related disasters. We listen to the concerns of those most effected, human and non-human, and mobilize faith communities to advocate for sustainable alternatives.

We partner with local organizations striving to achieve environmental justice, such as 350.org, CAUSE, Community Environmental Council, SBCAN, Environmental Defense Council, Sierra Club, Climate Justice Network, and others. Our role is to educate and mobilize members of local faith communities in hopes of involving them in campaigns for environmental justice and sustainability.
