Tell the Santa Barbara Ordinance Committee to Support a Strong Just Cause Eviction Protection Ordinance

The Santa Barbara Ordinance committee is considering only requiring landlords to pay 1.5x months rent to assist families they evict for no fault of their own.  We know it takes more than that to find new housing in Santa Barbara.

We call for them to strengthen the Just Cause Eviction Protection Ordinance with a relocation assistance minimum for no-fault evictions of 4x the Median Rent & 5x the Median Rent for Seniors, Low-Income Households and People with Disabilities.

This is necessary to provide adequate relocation assistance that covers typical expenses such as first and last months’ rent,   security deposit, and all other moving costs.  This model has been effective with the Tenant Displacement Assistance Ordinance from the City of Santa Barbara.
